Town Approves E-Bike Dirt Track At Former Cracker Barrel Site
Town officials released plans to turn the former Cracker Barrel site into Hilton Head’s first e-bike dirt track.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC — In a surprising move Monday, town council voted to convert the long-abandoned Cracker Barrel site on William Hilton Parkway into Hilton Head’s first official e-bike dirt track, catering primarily to the island’s booming retiree e-biker demographic.

“With so many HOAs banning e-bikes from leisure trails, we felt it was time to give our 68-year-olds somewhere else to launch off a berm,” said council spokesperson Mike Langford, adjusting his helmet.

Plans call for the former restaurant to be bulldozed into a quarter-mile loop featuring jumps, banked turns, and a “senior-friendly whoop section.”

Local riders welcomed the news. “I bought this Trek with pedal-assist so I could get to pickleball,” said Dorothy Miller, 72, straddling a mud-splattered e-bike. “But now I’m finally going to clear a tabletop like God intended.”

At press time, town officials confirmed Medicare would not cover injuries sustained during the inaugural “Silver Spokes Grand Prix.”
