Local Tire Shop Shocked To Learn It Ranked No. 6 On “Top 10 Soft Serve Cones In The Lowcountry”
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC — Employees at Bill’s Tire & Auto were caught off guard this week after learning the Island Packet had named their business the No. 6 spot in its annual “Top 10 Soft Serve Ice Cream Cones in the Lowcountry” listicle.
“We don’t even sell ice cream,” said manager Travis Cole, who confirmed the shop keeps a small freezer of Bomb Pops for employees during the summer. “Maybe someone left us a Yelp review by mistake.”
According to the Packet, the list was based on “crowdsourced data” from Yelp, Google, and TripAdvisor. Locals expressed confusion at the inclusion of the tire shop, though admitted its air-conditioned lobby and vending machine “do slap pretty hard in July.”
Other businesses featured in the article included two Dairy Queens, a fro-yo shop in Bluffton, and a restaurant most people assumed closed in 2018.
At press time, Bill’s Tire & Auto confirmed it was “honored by the recognition,” but declined to expand into cones, citing supply chain issues with sprinkles.
